carafem is ushering in a new era of abortion care in the US.
carafem was founded in 2013 and has provided quality abortion care to tens of thousands of satisfied clients both in brick and mortar health centers and online in our Virtual Visit Center. carafem is a leading national provider of reproductive healthcare services. Our standards and guidelines are approved by the National Abortion Federation’s Board of Directors and physicians.
Healthcare with Compassion
Unintended pregnancy is a common, shared experience and we understand the feelings and difficulties that come with thinking about abortion. That’s why we created the carafem experience, which centers your needs, values, and preferences while offering convenient and compassionate reproductive health care. Here’s how we are different:
- Clients spend their time one-on-one with their health care provider — not in a waiting room.
- On average, clients spend 30 minutes in a video visit, 55 minutes in a health center for abortion pill appointments and less than 90 minutes for in-office procedures.
- We often hear from clients how much they appreciate our warm, caring team of medical providers and how quickly they can get back to their busy lives. Find reviews by location here.
- We offer 24/7 support via text message so you can ask any questions that come to mind and receive reminders about your personalized care plan.
Our staff provides clear, non-judgmental, and accurate information so you feel confident. We believe new technology such as online scheduling, text-based support, and telehealth tools conveniently brings information to your fingertips. Our medical leadership has decades of experience in abortion care.
carafem (a project of FemHealth USA) is overseen by a board of directors that includes leaders in reproductive health care in the US and globally:

carafem provides convenient and professional abortion care and family planning so people can control the number and spacing of their children.
Who We Serve
1 in 4 people who are able to be pregnant in the United States will obtain an abortion in their reproductive lifetime. carafem’s services are for all of these people, specifically those between the ages of 18-29 who account for more than half of all abortions. These people are seeking quality information and services to address an unintended pregnancy. The need for an abortion cuts across racial, ethnic, and geographical identifiers but 61% of abortions are obtained by those who already have a child and almost half of people obtaining abortions have incomes below the federal poverty level.
Diversity and Inclusivity Statement
At carafem, we believe all health care should be easy to understand and access; and centered around you and your needs. We work to provide the best possible health care in a way that celebrates all aspects of your identity, including your sexual orientation, gender, gender identity and expression, race, ethnicity, immigration status, socioeconomic background, dis/ability and age.
