AL, LA, and MS residents: Did you know you may qualify for free abortion care?

If you live in Alabama, Louisiana, or Mississippi and are looking for abortion care, there may be financial help available that can make care more accessible.
Here’s some news that might make the process a little easier: you may be eligible to receive your abortion care either in a carafem clinic or through another provider for free through the National Abortion Federation (NAF).
That’s right, some clients may be able to receive an abortion for free as long as they meet certain eligibility guidelines.
Who qualifies for free abortion care?
To qualify for financial help through NAF, you must:
Live in Alabama, Louisiana, or Mississippi
Be uninsured or underinsured
Meet income guidelines
If that sounds like you, the National Abortion Federation (NAF) may be able to cover 100% of your abortion costs, including procedures at carafem or another provider nearest to you.
How do I apply?
If you are seeking care through carafem, we will automatically screen you for NAF support as part of scheduling your appointment, either online or over the phone. You do not need to apply separately. If you qualify, the financial assistance is applied directly to your care costs. If you go through the online process, you’ll find out instantly and the discount will be applied when you check out.
We also encourage you to visit our costs page to learn more about what abortion care typically costs and what financial support options may be available.

Frequently asked questions
Looking for an abortion near me? Please see the all locations page for an abortion provider near you, information about financial aid, and traveling out of state, or order abortion pills online.
The cost of abortion pills is influenced by state regulations. In states with more restrictive abortion laws, access to abortion care may be limited, potentially driving up the price due to travel and provider availability. It's important to check your state's laws regarding abortion coverage under health insurance or Medicaid. National resources like the National Women’s Law Center can provide further guidance on how state laws may impact abortion pill costs.
